6 Tips for Baileys Frosting
- If piping the frosting, start with a small amount to determine if the frosting is the correct thickness.
- If the Baileys Frosting is too thick, add more vanilla, Baileys Irish Cream, or Milk. Start with ½ teaspoon since the consistency can change with just a little extra liquid.
- If the frosting is too thin, then add more Powdered Sugar.
- Store any unused Baileys Frosting in an airtight container with a lid.
- Bring to room temperature once refrigerated to make frosting the cupcakes easier.
- If you want to try different Baileys flavors in the frosting recipes, try their sample size bottles! An economical way to introduce different flavor profiles!
Instructions for Making Baileys Frosting
- Room temperature: About 30-minutes ahead of time, bring the cream cheese and Kerrygold Butter to room temperature.
- Cream butter: Using a hand mixer, cream the Kerrygold Butter in a medium size bowl.
- Add cream cheese: Using the hand mixer, blend in the cream cheese until mixed with the butter.
- Add Baileys and Vanilla: Slowly mix in or stir in the Baileys Irish Cream and vanilla.
- Stir in powdered sugar: Stir in the powdered sugar before mixing with the hand mixer to reduce powdered sugar flying out of the bowl!
- Decorate: Once frosting is smooth and at the proper consistency, decorate your cupcakes, cookies or cake.
- Refrigerate: Store any extra frosting in the refrigerator. Because the frosting does harden in the refrigerator, bring back to room temperature when ready to use.
How to Frost Cupcakes Without a Piping Bag
When frosting cupcakes, I do not use a piping bag. For me that is just one more item to clean! But of course we want them to look nice. I start with a thinner frosting by using 1 ½ cups of Powdered Sugar.
- Drop a generous spoonful of Baileys Frosting into the center of the cupcake.
- Using the back side of the spoon, smooth the frosting starting from the center to the outer edges.
- Add some fun decorate sprinkles!
- Place finished cupcake into a decorative liner.
- Store in an airtight container.

I love the sound of this frosting.. I never thought of using baileys 😊
It is fantastic! And a pleasant surprise if you do not know Baileys is in the frosting. Plus they have so many fun flavors. 🍀🍀🍀
Not sure what’s better. Frosting or the Bailey’s! Either way, my mouth is watering at the thought.
The Baileys added a really nice touch to the cupcakes. A nice surprise if someone is not expecting it. Guinness, Baileys and chocolate – not much more I can say!
